WV Higher Education Grant
West Virginia Higher Education Grant is a need-based financial aid program for undergraduate students who attend an approved private or public university or college in the state of West Virginia or Pennsylvania.
Award amounts are based on a student’s demonstrated financial need and available funding, up to a maximum of $3,400 for each academic year.
Students may receive the grant for up to eight terms or until they complete the requirements for a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.

Who is eligible for WV Higher Education Grant?
- Be a West Virginia resident and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be a high school graduate or have earned a TASC or high school equivalent certificate
- Be an undergraduate student with no prior baccalaureate degree
- Be admitted and enrolled at least half-time at a participating institution in West Virginia
- Must exhibit financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Have a valid Student Aid Index (SAI) of no more than 13,000
To renew the grant, students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and earn at least 12 credit hours by the end of each summer term.
